Ulf Linderfalk

Ulf Linderfalk is Professor of International Law at Lund University and, since September 2025, Distinguished Researcher at the University of A Coruña. His research addresses structural and philosophical aspects of the international legal system, including normative conflicts, hierarchy, interpretation, good faith, abuse of rights, proportionality, and discretion, integrating approaches from legal philosophy, language theory and epistemology.​

Project

He is the author of four monographs (including On the Interpretation of Treaties and Understanding Jus Cogens in International Law and International Legal Discourse), and more than 45 articles in international journals such as the European Journal of International Law. His work has influenced the work of the UN International Law Commission on topics such as jus cogens and fragmentation of international law. He has managed projects and initiated international collaboration with funding of more than €3 million, and supervised seven PhD candidates and three postdoc fellows.
