WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?/

WHO IS THE PROGRAM DIRECTED TO?

The InTalent program is aimed at researchers of any nationality who wish to develop their research activity at UDC. In this edition, the program aims to focus primarily on beneficiaries of excellent science grants. Specifically, the InTalent program will be aimed at promoting the recruitment of researchers who have obtained a Ramón y Cajal (RyC) grant, funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in the 2021 call.

HOW MANY POSITIONS ARE OFFERED IN THE FIRST CALL OF THE SECOND EDITION OF THE INTALENT PROGRAM?

The purpose of this first call of the second edition of the InTalent program is to select three researchers who are beneficiaries of an R&C grant in the 2021 call and who will sign or have signed an agreement to join the UDC within the framework of their R&C grant, to whom a series of specific support measures are offered, as detailed in this call.

WHAT RESEARCH AREAS MUST THE CANDIDATES BELONG TO?

The lines of research to be developed by the selected personnel can be related to any area of knowledge and refer to both basic and applied research. The objective is to support excellent research personnel who are beneficiaries of an R&C grant, regardless of their area of knowledge, without any type of exclusion, although the viability of their lines of research within the UDC and their suitability for those areas of particular interest to the UDC due to their scientific projection, their emerging nature or their consideration as strategic within the current planning of the organization will be taken into account.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF THE CONTRACTS?

The InTalent program grants will have the same duration as the Ramón y Cajal contract they have been awarded.

WHAT IS THE REMUNERATION FOR THE BENEFICIARY?

An economic complement is established for the contract of the persons selected in this call, up to a total salary of €60,000 per year (including gross salary, social costs of the contract and the final compensation of the contract). This supplement will be received from the award of InTalent, never before the start of the contract and during the term of the Ramón y Cajal grant, ending at the same time as the latter.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS?

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree, have been selected in the 2021 call for Ramón y Cajal grants from the State Research Agency, meet the requirements established in the 2021 call for R&C grants for incorporation into the UDC, and sign or have signed the agreement for incorporation of their R&C grant with the UDC.

WHAT ARE THE EVALUATION CRITERIA?

The evaluation criteria are specified in section VI of the call and include the excellence of the scientific career, participation in international activity, interest and quality of the research lines developed, ability to lead their line of research and generate new knowledge, and independence in their career as well as their ability to lead a project in calls within the framework program “Horizon Europe” highlighting those promoted by the ERC or the EIC.

The beneficiaries are free to establish the collaborations they deem appropriate with the groups of the UDC or with researchers from other universities. The only requirement is that they develop their project at the UDC.

WHO EVALUATES THE PROJECTS?

The evaluation of the applications will be carried out according to the criteria established by an Evaluation Commission chaired by the Vice Rector for Science Policy, Research and Transfer and experts of recognized prestige from the UDC itself and/or other scientific institutions appointed by the Rector of the UDC. This commission will be assisted by the Scientific Coordinator of the InTalent Program, who will act as a non-voting member.

IF I AM SELECTED, AM I OBLIGED TO APPLY TO ALL NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CALLS FOR EXCELLENT SCIENCE?

The call includes the obligation to submit through the UDC at least one application to a call promoted by the ERC during the period of the contract. If the application is successful, the beneficiary must develop his/her project at the UDC. Failure to comply with this commitment will result in the loss of the right to receive the salary supplement established in this call and all the funding granted in the same; and the obligation to repay the amounts received in full, unless otherwise specifically agreed between the beneficiary and the UDC. IN ADDITION TO THE SALARY SUPPLEMENT, DOES THIS PROGRAM PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE BENEFICIARIES' LINE OF RESEARCH?

The selected research personnel will receive a complementary grant for the establishment of their own line of research, in the amount of 40,000 euros, in a single, one-time payment after the award. This aid is additional to that included in the R&C grants and aims to ensure the continuity of the research activity of the R&Cs who join the UDC until they manage to raise funds through competitive calls, so it is expected that they must spend these additional funds during the first two years of their contract.
