A Coruña, March 5, 2025.- The Faculty of Sciences of the University of A Coruña (UDC) will host next Monday, March 10, the second edition of the International Masterclass “Particle Physics with Hands”, an initiative organized by the Nuclear and High Energy Physics and Technology group (FiTNAE) of the UDC in collaboration with the International Particle Physics Outreach Group (IPPOG) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

The Masterclass is organized by the research staff of the National Knowledge Generation Plan project “LHCb Data Challenges”, the Ramón y Cajal and InTalent researcher, Veronika Chobanova; the distinguished Oportunius researcher, Diego Martínez Santos; the researcher Jeremy Dalseno, the doctoral student, John Wendel; in addition to the Ramón y Cajal researcher, Carlos Vázquez Sierra and the Master’s student, Miranda Carou Laiño.

This day is aimed at 2nd year students from various educational centers in Galicia. The session will include informative lectures on the most recent advances in this field, followed by a practical workshop where students will analyze real data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN and a visit to the electron microscope at the UDC.

As a culmination of the day, participants will discuss their results in a videoconference with students from five other countries participating in the Masterclass simultaneously: Constantine (Algeria), Pazin (Croatia), Lyon (France), Székesfehérvár (Hungary) and Tehran (Iran). In this way, the event fosters not only interest in scientific research, but also collaborative work at an international level.
